Pati ta pabana” is a fabric color on silk cloth-based creation of Subhalaxmi Chintak. In landscape orientation with dimensions of 4.33″ X 3.94″(11.00cm X 10.01cm). It is a traditional form of art known as pattachitra. An amalgamation of the words Patta (canvas) and Chitra (picture), Pattachitra art is an ancient art form. It refers to paintings made on a cloth canvas. In Patachitra, stories are painted as frames on long scrolls and the Patuas gradually unfurl them while presenting the story through their songs. “ Pati ta pabana” is a combination of two words, ‘Patita’ and ‘Pabana’. In the local Odia language ‘Patita’ means ‘Sinner’ and ‘Pabana’ means ‘purifier’, so ‘Patitapabana’ combined means ‘One who can even purify the sinner’. The image of Lord Jagannath mounted in Gumuta Griha at the main entrance of the temple is worshipped as ‘Patitapaban Jagannath’.
