She was credited with having made 30,000 solo, duet, and also chorus-backed song recordings over 14 Indian languages between the time period of 1948 and 1987. She even banged four Filmfare awards for her outstanding melodies and was also awarded by Padma Bhushan, which is known to be one of the highest civilian honors later after two years she also became the second film celebrity to receive the Bharat Ratna, which is India’s highest civilian award.
